I'm
back from an 11 day kayak trip from Tofino to Hot Springs Cove and back to Tofino. We saw grey whales, porpoises, sea otters
(usually only see river otters even though they are in the ocean) sea lions and bear tracks on one of the beaches we stayed
on. Awoke to howling wolves on our last morning and their tracks were all over the beach and our camp too!! Very cool. Oh
and for a laugh, I also found a patch of amanita muscaria mushrooms, tis the season out here on the wild pacific coast! I
had a good laugh over that and left them there in case you are wondering! Here are a couple of pics. The first one is at Ahous Bay, where we camped the first two nights. Had a rough surf landing in that water, it may not look
big but it was wickedly powerful! Dumped me my first try. Then our camp. As you can see, this is total pristine wilderness,
no one else around ( I imagine busier in summer) and no amenities at all! I like the one of a friend in the Hot Springs (totally natural) giving the thumbs up. It was awesome there! The next photo shows how they pool down right to the
sea and mix with the ocean water. P9141007 is a sea lion. Hope I sent good photos that show what a glorious part of the
world I live in!
Hugs!
